Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy has been open at Sunset Showcase since 31st March 2019, with the events of the show taking place after the story of Cars 3. After over 5 years the ride is going to be closing to visitors at the end of the day on 6th October. Ride fans need to be quick to enjoy their last experience.
Club Villain is the new attraction, opening in Summer 2025. Transporting visitors into the reflective realm of the Magic Mirror, Villain fans have even more to look forward to now.
Announcing the reimaging Disney Park Blogs say: “The show will feature appearances by dozens of the most infamous evildoers, with fiendish foes Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook and Maleficent each breaking through the glass to take the stage in live production numbers.”
Villain Invasion improves Hollywood Studio’s attraction
This is a big change in theming from a family focused, children’s attraction to a Disney Adults dream. Currently, this is a one and done, or skip attraction for many visitors who have more thrilling and exciting rides to enjoy at Hollywood Studios. This is not going to be the case from Summer 2025.
The Villains theme is one Disney seem to be exploring in detail, and it is exciting to see this spreading as far as Hollywood Studios where the villains already have a foothold in Fantasmic.
Villains Invade Hollywood Studios: Edging their way in
The end of Sunset Boulevard is going definitely going to be the home of villainy. The Hollywood Tower of Terror and Fantasmic already call this spot home, so the addition of a Villains show attraction is fitting. It’s great that the Villains attractions are finding homes on the periphery of both Magic Kingdom and now Hollywood Studios.
As the Villains emerge from the shadows invading from the edges of the parks, a question arises. Where will the Villains invade next? Villains Land in Magic Kingdom is the big news, but it looks like the Villains will be a prominent presence in more Disney parks sooner than we think.
One less option for Monsters Inc Land
This sudden announcement of the change to this attraction is not unexpected here at Brits with Ears. We speculate that this site may be a possible site for the new Monsters Inc Land in What will Disney reimagine at Hollywood Studios. Obviously this is not now a possibility, but it does look as though Disney are revamping low footfall attractions.
Hollywood Studios is going to be getting quite the face lift. With a fan-pleasing new land, roller-coaster attraction and now a Villains attraction too. It would seem that Disney may be trying to keep visitors excitement high about the parks. A necessity perhaps, given the opening of EPIC Universe at Universal Studios next year.
As the Villains invade Hollywood Studios and Disney continues to please fans by rolling out more Villain attractions, we wonder if EPCOT may be the next destination for a Villain invasion? Keep your wits about you in the shadows, the Villains are coming.
