EPCOT rope drop rides come in all shapes and sizes. From water rides, to walk through rides, to a cultural experience that you might overlook as a rope drop option. Rope drop rides at EPCOT in 2024 have so much to offer UK visitors.
Rope dropping EPCOT: why consider it?
EPCOT is a park with a few popular rides with high wait times throughout the day. Rope dropping these rides is a great way to reduce the time you spend waiting to ride them. It’s also a great way to start your day exploring EPCOT, as this park offers so much more than ride experiences.
Consider rope dropping EPCOT in 2024 if:
- you want to spend less time in queues
- experience every EPCOT ride in one day
- enjoy a quieter ride experience
- include drinking around the world as part of your park experience
- are visiting Disney World on a budget.
What’s the best rope drop ride at EPCOT?
Arguably the best and most popular ride at EPCOT is Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Sadly though, this ride is not available to rope drop as it uses the virtual queue system. If you want to guarantee a morning ride you would need to buy a Lightning Lane Single Pass, selecting a morning slot.
Having said that, it is also the most intense and thrilling ride at EPCOT so for the thrill seekers out there EPCOT may not be worth rope dropping in 2024. There are some amazing ride experiences here that you can rope drop, so just remember to set an alarm to get your spot in the virtual queue as part of your rope drop morning.
3 best EPCOT rope drop rides and why in 2024
EPCOT has three top rope drop ride experiences and there is a strategy that is best for riding each of these. Use our rope drop strategy for EPCOT guide for a full strategy, including maps with routes, what time to arrive and what to expect. Here, we discuss the reasons why you should rope drop these attractions.
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
The best ride to rope drop in EPCOT in our opinion, this 3D trackless experience has no height requirement so is fun for everyone. Based on the Pixar Disney animated film Ratatouille this ride is located in the France area of EPCOT. This is towards the back of the park, so use the Board Walk and skyliner entrance for a better rope drop experience if you are looking to reduce your queue time.

A very popular ride, with a queue time that will hit an hour or more within 10 minutes of rope drop this ride is a must experience for anyone visiting the park. Rope drop this ride, but expect to queue even when rope dropping. You will be looking at a wait time of between 30 to 45 minutes if you follow our rope drop strategy for this ride.
Frozen Ever After
Opening on 21st June 2016, this ride replaced Maelstrom and there are still little reminders to see as you enjoy the Frozen incarnation. A huge fan favourite, this ride is a water ride that everyone can enjoy and it has no height requirement. Queue times follow the same pattern as Remy. Within a few minutes of rope drop you can be looking at an hour’s wait to enjoy the ride.
Rope drop will help to get you a lower wait time for this attraction, but because of Early Entry and its popularity the wait time will be 30 minutes or more, even at rope drop. In 2024, during Autumn and Winter there is a reason for the increasing rope drop wait times for both Frozen Ever After and Remy – the refurbishment of Test Track.

Test Track – Closed until 2025
Test Track is a popular rope drop ride, luring thrill seekers to set an early alarm for EPCOT. Since 17th June 2024, the ride has been closed due to a lengthy ride reimagining and refurbishment. It isn’t set to open until 2025, with no fixed date announced for when it will reopen. This is impacting rope drop wait times around the park, particularly at Frozen and Remy.
You won’t be able to rope drop this ride for the remainder of 2024.
Best EPCOT rope drop rides for adults
EPCOT is a popular park with Disney adults, offering more experiences than just rides. From Festivals involving concerts and culinary treats, to drinking around the world, this park is a Disney adult favourite.

Soarin
Taking a flight around the world is a relaxing way to begin your morning in EPCOT. At rope drop this ride will have a pretty low wait time, ad you may find that the ride is a walk-on experience. The smells are a little bit stronger first thing, so not only will you get a quieter experience, in our experience you also have a better ride experience too!
Spaceship Earth
Nothing beats a ride inside the geodesic dome. It’s a journey through time, that’s another relaxing way to start an EPCOT day. Often, it’s a walk-on experience at rope drop and the ride doesn’t stop and start as much for loading in that first rope drop half an hour.
Mission: Space
Why not head off on a rocket launch simulation to start your day? This an intense ride for the thrill seeking adults out there whether you choose the green or the orange option. If you enjoy a thrill and are looking to get the space experience, this is for you.

Living with the Land
Not quite in World Showcase, this peaceful ride through the EPCOT greenhouses is a soothing escape no matter what time of day your ride. First thing this is pretty much a walk-on and you may well find yourself getting front seat on a boat. The attraction is a lovely peaceful way to start the day.
Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros
This will be a quiet ride experience inside the Mexico pavilion as very few people consider this ride as rope drop worthy. It is quite possible to walk by and miss it altogether, but for any Donald Duck fan, this ride is a hidden gem of a Disney treat.
Journey of Water Inspired by Moana
A morning walk around this outdoor water attraction is quieter than later in the day when it does get busier. If you want to take your time and enjoy the interactive water displays without feeling the need to move on because of the waiting people behind you, consider rope dropping this experience.

This ride is so often overlooked, and its a great experience for kids who enjoy the catchy songs and mischievous antics of Figment. With no height requirement and the chance to play as you leave the ride this is a great way to start the day. You may even find you get to meet Figment himself.
Meet Anna and Elsa at Royal Sommerhus
If you love the princesses and are a big Frozen fan then start your day by saying hello to Anna and Elsa. This popular meet and greet does get busier later on and you can wait nearly an hour. If it’s important to your children, its worth rope dropping.

This Mickey Mouse and friends meet and greet is new for 2024 and can be found in World Celebration. With a chance to meet lots of the iconic Disney characters its a great way for kids and adults to get some big name autographs to cherish from their trip, without the lengthy afternoon waits.

The Pavilions: A different experience not to miss
The Pavilions around World Showcase at EPCOT will open at rope drop. Each pavilion offers a unique experience to learn about different cultures. They are brilliant places to visit first thing because they are so quiet. You can enjoy the displays and it feels a bit like visiting a modern museum. If you have ever been to the World Museum in Liverpool and experienced some of their cultural exhibits, the EPCOT pavilions create that kind of vibe.
It’s definitely worth exploring every pavilion there, you can grab a coffee and take in the culture Disney have curated. If you have an interest in Tokyo Disneyland or Shanghai Disneyland there are exhibits about attractions linking to Disney World Resort attractions.
